The Fresenius Medical Care Hygiene and Infection Control Guideline (Fresenius Medical Care HICG) addresses one of the major challenges in the operation of dialysis centres and the delivery of high quality dialysis treatments.
As well as the effect on health, infections also cause an increase in hospitalisation.
The aim of the Fresenius Medical Care Hygiene and Infection Control Guideline is to address hygiene and infection related issues in order to enhance safety and reduce the associated risks.
The policy states the principles that should be observed for the clean and safe operation of all Fresenius Medical Care centres and promotes:
- Use of non-touch and aseptic techniques whenever possible and strict adherence to defined clinical working practices and procedures.
- Compliance with the screening and immunisation schedules as proposed by the European Best Practice Guidelines for Haemodialysis (Part 1).
